Attached File  Report_Scan_20060920_182931.txt   4.46KB   80 downloadsAttached File  Report_Scan_20060920_182931.txt   4.46KB   80 downloadsI have been through the steps that were recommended before posting and still have problems. When booting up I get a "CPU has changed" prompt and have to hit "F1" for the boot process to continue. This was not originally a problem but occurred after running some of the programs that were recommended. As Windows opens (2000 Pro) I start getting "Open with" dialog boxes that say "Chose the program you want to use to open the application" and it has a list of programs. One separate dialog box pops up for just about each and every app that is on my Desktop. The Desktop icons are white rectangles with a folded down upper right corner (as if a sheet of paper) and contains the Microsoft logo flag instead of the vendor logo for the app. When I dbl clk on the icon, another "Open with" dialog box appears and I have to find a program listed or go to the related app .exe file to open it. Internet Explorer will not load even through the "Open with" dialog box. I have to go thru Windows Explorer, Program Files, Internet Explorer, and dbl clk the .exe file. The only way I can get Windows Explorer to load is by going thru My Computer. The computer is very slow. I am unable to launch into Safe Mode at any point in the boot process. I am running Norton GoBack and have been unable to delete it or keep it from launching. Neither does it respond to the keyboard when I try to go into it during boot. I have run the virus/trojan/malware scans that GeeksToGo recommended along with all the scans available with Norton that I have . I am running Norton SystemWorks 2006 and Norton InternetSecurity 2006. They were in place when this attack occurred. Norton was able to find "Trojan-Downloader-Ruin" and placed it in Quarentine. ewido anti-spyware was able to find "Downloader.Agent.uj" but received an error message trying to put it into Quarentine. That will probably show up in the HighThis log. I also ran the "Fix Windows Internet Explorer" app recommended, but to no avail.
If someone could be of any help, I would greatly appreciate it. If there is any more info you need, please let me know. This is really one of the first times I've ever been in a forum and I don't know my way around very well, so please excuse any screw-ups. I am trying to attach both the HijackThis report scan log and the ewido anti spyware report scan log but don't know if it was successfull. May have attached them more than once. Please see New Topic "Addition to Trojan-Downloader-Ruin & Downloader.Agent.uj" (#1 Norm) for HijackThis report scan log.
Thank you for your time.
