This desktop suffered no drop or damage. Ran fine, except for loads of spyware/malware...then, suddenyl the next day windows will not load and the hard drive makes a ticking noise. Is the hard disk fried, or on the verge? Would the malware play any particular role in this...trojans or worms perhaps? I'm going to try and reload xp to see if that cures it, but I have doubts. Anyone got any ideas or tips?

Drive's dead. Replace it.

Drive in my other machine's died, despite it not having been plugged into the wall for three weeks, it still died. Oh well.
