Hi,
cmmgr32.exe does not appear in system32.
I tried reinstalling the operating system with XP cd.
After that reinstalled drivers for AGERE SOFT MODEM which is where this extension must belong to, since this is the dial up driver.
Have not been able to fix the pproblem.

I read this problem from a program called registry mechanic which says THE VALUE IS INVALID.

Dial Up keeps crashing my PC so I know this is a problem.

Is it any of these

This software upgrade will not work with soft modems displaying any of the following names:
Agere Systems AC'97 Modem
TOSHIBA Software Modem
Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem
Samsung LT56ADW Modem
SENS LT56ADW Modem

Check if XP has drivers for the modem, in device manager, choose update driver, choose from list

Sorry about that..
Problem persists.
updating the driver seemed to solve it for a couple of hours, but problem reappeared.

If you update the driver again, does it run, and does it only run for a while?

the driver is installed in agere modem AC97, but the invalid entry reappears:
system32\cmmgr32.exe

Can you use device manager to uninstall the modem, reboot then load the drivers

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.
Also tried to use the dos command to extract the file cmmgr32.exe from the cd and into system32.
Can't find the file in the web.

can't figure out what is wrong!

please help

The following message appears:
The file cmmgr32.exe on (unknown) is needed.
could not install.....
