I booted up my home computer yesterday and the mouse will move but won't open programs. If I start in the safe mode they will open.
I have windows 98.

How do you mean won't open programmes? I'm assuming it won't double click on your desktop icons, or click on your start menu? Can you open them with your keyboard?

If it's double click then just check your mouse settings in control panel make sure the drivers etc are working. (You'll go through a long frustrating process of using the keys as your mouse - good luck!)

One other alternative is to boot the machine without your mouse in, shut down, then reinsert the mouse and reboot.
