I've got an  Somebody call the Monkey He's got to have an Answer for This :whistling:

A weightless and perfectly flexible rope is hung over a weightless,
frictionless pulley attached to the roof of a building.
At one end is a weight which exactly counterbalances a monkey at the other end.
If the monkey begins to climb, what will happen to the weight
will it remain stationary, will it rise or will it fall?

this is based on HORRIBLE physics....hehe...but here it goes...I THINK the weight would rise...and here's my justification

the weight weighs the same as the monkey
and the monkey weighs the same as the monkey (because it's the monkey)
so on either end of the rope gravity is exerting it's force at 9.8m/s^2 (squared)...so the force is equal on both ends
when the monkey starts climbing...he has to exert a downard force on his end of the rope which would add X amount of force on his end (enough force to break the tug of gravity...so at least more than 9.8m/s^2) of the rope which would then impart more force on the other end of the rope than gravity is imparting on the weight

that's the beauty of being a monkey...we don't have to care about HOW things work..we just bask in the bliss of the fact that they do (really helps when dealing with windows errors "why is it doing this?" it's made by microsoft)

i don't have a riddle...so if you do...you can take my turn

Try This one

A cloud was my mother,

the wind is my father,

my son is the cool stream,

and my daughter is the fruit of the land.

A rainbow is my bed,

the earth my final resting place,

and I'm the torment of man.

What am I?

By the Way Dsenette a very Good Point about Microsoft Windows Issues can be very Frustrating
