I'm trying to use nero 6 cover designer to burn an image onto a lightscribe dvd. I can set up the label the way I want it, but I have no option in the file menu to use lightscribe. Here are some screen shots of what I see.

This is what I see when I click on "file". I've read that there should be an option for printing with lightscribe.


This is what I see when I click on file>preferences. It shows that I can set up lightscribe the way I want, but there isn't a default drive. I don't get it. I've used lightscribe with sonic, but I didn't like the way it burned so I want to try Nero.

Do you have more than one cd-rw and/or dvd-rw in your system? You may have to specify what burner you want to use. There is this about having at least 6.6 version and lightscribe host software updated.

I only have one drive. In the second picture that I provided, you can see in the box that there's not an option to select a drive. That's what I don't understand about it, also there's not an option to print with lightscribe.

EDIT: I just tried your link and downloaded the update, but it says that a newer version of the same is already installed.

If you click check now, does it say no newer version?

Download and run this

Prefetch is clickable for more information

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, (all files will highlight), right click any file, click delete, confirm

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up

Reboot

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run defragmenter

Download, install and run Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Disable the anti virus programme then click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Check the anti virus programme is running

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Click optimize and improve then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Was the lightscribe drive added after Nero?

Check the nerovision folder is empty

Nah, the lightscribe drive came with the computer.

Worth re-installing Nero

Have you checked for a firmware update for the drive, though you need to use the correct one, if any, as they are irreversible
