Or just tick the box to "Hide All Microsoft Sevices" and disable the rest.

tried your other method. no dice. :whistling:

by the way, I tried sfc /scannow in diagnostic mode, and it gets a bit further. I make it to the prompt for the disk. I just dont think I have the correct one at the moment so it cant finish.

Can you run sfc /scannow without a disc, click skip it it asks, click cancel if it keeps asking

alright I found the disk I was looking for, and ran the sfc /scannow in diagnostic mode. I then noticed that the shortcut for tune up was on the desktop. I figured it was just the shortcut, since I didnt see the thing install all the way before. but nope, its fully working from what I can tell. so I just now went through the rest of the steps, and everything seems great so far.
