Super will convert AVI to MPEG but the programmes which will burn it for use in a standalone player are not usually free

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

ConvertXtoDVD will convert most file types (not wmv) and burn to DVD

http://www.vso-softw...nvert_x_to_dvd/

The trial version watermarks the output so use RW discs to test it

Look for OEM versions of Nero 6
