OK, So I've been here for about 2 hours, I made a joke about formatting a PC cause it was pretty well shot and I've managed to anger everyone in any position to be angered. So, first let me apologize to anyone I've upset or offended or otherwise managed to agitate. Second, help me understand the purpose of this site. I get the whole "remove Spyware, Malware, etc..." thing and I think it's a great undertaking. However, is any member able to answer others questions? Are the GTG Staff the only ones who can answer questions? What's the deal? I thought it was a users helping users kind of setup so I jumped right in. I'm a system administrator (not tooting my horn, just laying down my qualifications) so I'm pretty well versed in the computer help arena. However, I didn't realize that there was a hierarchy with staff and such so maybe I was out of line. Anyway, clue me in. I like to help folks but I don't want to tick anyone off. And no more formatting jokes. Just fight that PC until you win or die trying.

Gophergutz...

Sorry for shooting ya down earlier, there was no offense or meanness (is that even a word) meant. We just don't like formatting here ;)

It's a pleasure to have you here ;)

The restrictions here are simply that you must be staff to answer HijackThis logs, anything else we encourage techs to help :)

If you'd like to learn to analyze a HijackThis log, you can join GeekU. We encourage and appreciate your help in the site :tazz:

Thanks Matt. I'll adimit that I probably have a different view of formatting. If I have a PC that's really acting up, it's easier for me to wipe it than it is for me to fight it, usually. Being that the users here aren't supposed to have stuff on the actual workstations, data loss isn't a concern. I was probably a little premature with the format thing but, time is money here and formatting is usually quicker than fighting a really super bad infestation. And I would love to join the U. I never turn down a chance to learn, unless it has something to do with reality TV.
Thanks,
Jason (Gophergutz)
