I need help please.

Here's the problem: when I open some powerpoint presentations (it's not the case for all of them), random slides are missing. Slides that used to be there previously... :whistling:

Let me explain. I work as a translator. A few days ago, somebody sent me their PPT to translate. I worked on it for a few days. Left it to rest.
In the meantime, I had a problem opening an Excel file created in a different country (I live in France, it's apparently a common problem with Office 2000 sorted with the 2003 version), I therefore updated to Office 2003. Everything went (seemingly) well.

The next day, I re-open my powerpoint presentation, 5 or 6 slides have just gone blank. Slides I already translated. They have also gone "blank" in the version of the file I had saved as "original" (I always need to keep both versions of the files I'm sent: the original and the translated version).

Now, there's something even weirder. Panicked, I racked my brains to find a way to recover the missing slides, because it meant I couldn't translate them nor deliver them on time, that's when I realised I had the initial request document saved onto my computer as well, and which I hadn't tampered with (I hadn't renamed it or "saved it as", but just saved it onto my hard drive and never re-opened it since. I opened the file, and it had all 71 slides intact!! All of them, intact.

Since then, I have tried to re-open similar powerpoint presentations coming from the same company that I had translated and delivered a few weeks before, slides are missing in those too. I have just forwarded the incomplete files to somebody else with Office 2003 on their computer, the person opened them, and they are perfectly normal again... complete!

This random deleting of slides is downright scray, as it's, well, totally random, and because, if my work just disappears like that, my job's at stake  , what if it carries on doing that? Can anybody see why it's happened and what I can do to stop it from happeing again?

Help me please!!
