Hi melcha

You have a couple of infections in there so we'll hit this one first.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Hi melcha

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let me know how your system's working.

Hi melcha

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1.
Go to Start > Run and type Services.msc then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

Microsoft ASPI Manager (aspi113210)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on None of the above, just start the program. Now, click on the Config button (bottom right), click on Misc Tools, then click on Delete an NT Service. A window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

aspi113210

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

2.
After the reboot, we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible
Click This link for further help.

3.
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [stonedrv] c:\windows\system32\stonedrv.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [stonedrv] c:\windows\system32\stonedrv.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [shell] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00003.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Winsvr] C:\DOCUME~1\Zealot\LOCALS~1\Temp\A16384.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):
Folders and files with a tilde (~), means that there is a file/folder that starts with the six characters in front of the tilde, note that there may be spaces in the name. If there are more than one, please report them back and do not delete!

C:\DOCUME~1\Zealot

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):
Use windows search facility if you have trouble finding these files.

C:\windows\system32\stonedrv.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00003.exe

After that, Reboot.

4.
After the reboot.
Please do an online virus scan with Panda ActiveScan Here. You need to use Internet Explorer for this scan.
  • Once you get to the Panda site, scroll down a bit and click on Scan your PC
  • A new window will appear; click on Check Now!
  • A new window will appear; fill in the boxes (Country, State, email addy)
  • Click on Scan Now! >
If you have never used ActiveScan before, you will be prompted to install an ActiveX control (asinst.cab) : click on Install. Panda will install the component, and then install the latest signature files.
  • From "Select a device to scan...", choose "My Computer"
  • Allow the scan to run. It'll take a while.
  • When complete, click on "See Report", and then on "Save report"; save it to a convenient location.
  • I will need you to post that report in your next reply; simply open the text file, then copy/paste the content here.
If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let me know how your system's working. :whistling:

I followed all the steps but I was unable to do these because I didn't see them:

"Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present):
Folders and files with a tilde (~), means that there is a file/folder that starts with the six characters in front of the tilde, note that there may be spaces in the name. If there are more than one, please report them back and do not delete!

C:\DOCUME~1\Zealot

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):
Use windows search facility if you have trouble finding these files.

C:\windows\system32\stonedrv.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00003.exe"

I think HJ had already deleted them at the time.

Hi melcha

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1.
Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

2.
Please download Qoofix by Rubber Ducky to your desktop.
  • Right click on the Qoofix folder, and choose "Extract All". Extract Qoofix to your C: drive
  • Close all windows and programs, including internet windows.
  • Go to C:\Qoofix and open the folder, then double click on Qoofix.exe
  • Click Begin Removal and wait for the scan to finish
  • If Qoofix finds an infection, select yes to restart your computer
  • You will now find a log from this tool, located at C:\Qoofix\Qoofix Logfile.txt Copy and paste the contents of that report into your next reply here.
3.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 onlyDouble-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

4.
I need you to run another on-line scan with Panda and post the results (hopefully there should be less this time)

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, along with the other logs in this same topic, and let me know how your system's working. :help:

Hi melcha

Looking at the activescan results vundo fix did find and delete a few entries.

1.
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3BDDA21E-628D-4C27-862C-8C20C5B911F8} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\iifcc.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {70CAFCEF-78DA-B48A-BA81-028BB416A6C4} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\jhrbove.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {849B9523-785F-4014-9CAF-079FB4A74C61} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\yjhygqdw.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

2.
I'd like you to run one more scan before we do the final clean up.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

You won't believe this but my main comp has pop ups again as well, it was fine until I decided to run the usual tools (Ad-aware,Spybot,etc) to ensure there was nothing fishy going on, just double checking. It some how unlocked the gate of adware. Its crazy, I wonder what was triggered. I'm gonna try to fix it myself before I ask for help on the GTG forums (in a different topic).. but back to the task at hand. My laptop:

Here is the log from the Combo Fix!

Hi melcha

I will be happy to look at your other pc problems, when this one is clean (which won't be long )

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\uni_e6h.exe
    C:\installerwnusnewer.exe
    C:\ac3_0003.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dmonwv.dll_tobedeleted

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Next
Re-open Killbox, make sure Standard file kill is checked copy the folder path below to the clipboard by highlighting it and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

C:\WINDOWS\VmFsdWVkIEdhdGV3YXkgQ2xpZW50

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the prompt. Close Killbox.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let me know how your system's working. :help:
