i've found many posts that have had the same problem as me, and i have attempted to do everything the posts say, but in my case i'm having more problems

Originally I tried doing this, from a post i found (http://forums.majorg...ad.php?t=103140):

I discovered the solution. Go to regedit. Then delete these >keys :

>1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplorer.exe and

>2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\explorer.exe

>3. Reboot.

many people with my problem said it solved it, however explorer.exe was not there and neither was iexplorer.exe

next i tried this:

HKLM>Software>Microsoft>WindowsNT>CurrentVersion>Winlogon>Shell

Edit the contents of the Shell tag to Explorer.exe

Reboot, windows should start normally...

it was set to Explorer.exe, so i tried this next:

To find the required Registry key, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects
Right-click on the yellow folder named StuckRects (StuckRects2 in later Windows) > Delete. When you restart Windows, the deleted key will be regenerated and, with luck, will bring back a healthy Taskbar with it.

and with my luck, nothing happened.

so next i tried a system restore to two days ago, 24 hours before the startmenu and icons dissapeared. still nothing happened

then i tried this post (http://www.geekstogo...showtopic=86202)
and did this:

Let's try this:

Download FixO.exewhere ever you can get to it easiest through task manager.

* Run FixO.exe to install the program.
* After it's installed, go into the FixO folder (it'll be where you saved FixO.exe) and run FixO.bat.
* When it's done running a notepad will appear with a log, please copy the contents of the notepad and paste it into your next reply.

Reboot your computer and see if explorer is back.

nothing showed up.

i don't know what else to do, but to reinstall windows. however i feel it is not necessary since many people have had this problem and had it resolved.

any ideas? here is a hijack this logfile:

i would like to view my recycle bin aswell. I remember a short time( an hour or so) before my problem started that I removed an entry that was named "explorer" on ObjectDock( a utility similar to the taskbar that is a program i run when i turn my computer on.) I am thinking that maybe that file was put in the recycle bin causing all these problems for me. Does anyone know how I could view my recycle bin?

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as lookup.bat
Set Filetype to "All files"

dir %WINDIR%\explorer.exe /a h /s > files.txt
start notepad files.txt

Start the file by doubleclicking lookup.bat
That will open a file called files.txt. Post the content of that file.
