You were so much help with my last problem that I thought I'd bug ya again <_< .

I'm working on a computer that has windows 98, and viewed some ringtone websites that have added a lot of adware, etc. We now get constant popups, and get re-directed constantly.

Today, I've run the CWShredder, Spybot, and finally was able to download HijackThis. When I ran the Hijacker I was able to pick out a number of items that I knew to be spyware but wasn't sure on the rest and am still having pop ups, etc.
I also got an error message when running hijacker, as well as a message from CWShredder and Spybot about a file that cannot be deleted (O1 - Hosts: 207.36.196.189 search.netscape.com). Here is a copy of the Hijack log I ran after I deleted the obvious items.

Welcome back Sheila,

First things first, please download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. Disconnect from the Internet and close all

Internet Explorer Windows. Check the "I know what I'm doing" Button and remove all traces of inetadpt.dll.

Reboot and lets see a new log

Hello again,

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Ditto, here is my latest log after fixing the items you mentioned above.
Also, I attemped to run Norton scan and some utilities and kept getting an error that I'm sure is related to all of this somehow:
NMAIN caused a stack fault in module user.exe AT 0008.00004413

Following is the log. I had disconnected our cable modem before I fixed the other items and before I ran the new log.

Hey Shiela,

A little more cleaning up. Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://allaboutsearc...p://about:blank
O1 - Hosts: 207.36.196.189 ieautosearch
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {37503D82-7882-437C-AFBB-E396A22D2121} - (no file)

reboot and after please run this free online virus scan:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

Reboot once more and let's see a new HiJack this log <_<

ok, i'm thoroughly frustrated now, lol. In the last 3 hours I have run hijackthis and deleted the above mentioned plus some new obvious items. I scanned with housecall which luckily came back with zero. I ran spybot, adaware and moosoft. I did all of this with my cable modem unplugged. I rebooted in between scans. Then I ran hijackthis again to post and found the same annoying problems :D .
I also went thru all program files and deleted anything I knew I did not need.
I did find a file that I did not know what it was but it will not let me delete it!
"shim link dart" folder contains sub folders: DEAFSKIP, and uyuwhaol. Looked suspicious but couldn't do anything about it.

Anyway, here is my hijackthis log, I have not deleted anything as yet.

Thanks for all of the time all of you put into this website!! It is greatly appreciated by all of us <_<

Also, I attempted to download the "kill2me" just as a precaution but was not able to. Certain anti-spyware programs i've had trouble downloading. As soon as it starts to download, the download install box starts to blink on and off rapidly and Cntl ALT DEL will not even stop it, I end up just turning the computer off.
I may try downloading it from a different computer and storing to disk or emailing it to myself, maybe I can open it then.

did you delete the files in HiJack THis in safe mode?

also, look in start->settings->control panel and then open up Add/Remove Programs. Check to see if Deaf Skip or Shim Link dart is in the program list. If it is, then go and remove it.

let me know how it goes. im still looking over your log and there are some things i need to check into.

C:\PROGRAM FILES\SHIM LINK DART\DEAFSKIP.EXE appears to be a LOP infection. It should be able to be removed and fixed in safe mode. If it refuses to leave use the Killbox.

Click Here to download TheKillbox. Extract TheKillBox.exe from the zip file and double click it to open it up. In the 'Enter Full Path and Filename to Delete' box, copy and paste these entries one by one, clicking 'Find and Kill This File' after each one:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\SHIM LINK DART\DEAFSKIP.EXE

Click 'Exit' when done.

Note: If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run: http://www.javacools...ngfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

OK, here is my lastest log. I started in safe mode and was able to delete the program file shim link dart without it coming back. Also ran CWShredder which finally found my system to be clean (it had been finding CWS.Bootconf each time).
I ran Spybot which once again found Look2me. I tryed to run the "death2me" from a 3 1/2 but get the same result even now with the blinking download box and end up pressing Cntrl ALT Del. Would "TheKillbox" take care of the Look2me? haven't done anything since the Look2me shows up as a Registry file not a program file. As I'm typing this (first time online since yesterday), Look2me just reloaded itself <_< .

OK, heres the latest:

P.S. Have I said thank you lately? :D

Ditto, I named the "kill2me" by the wrong name earlier, called it "death2me".
"Kill2me" is the one I've been trying to run but "something" won't let it. Whenever I try, the download box begins blinking on and off rapidly and won't let it download. I've tried downloading from a link and also from a 3 1/2 that I stored it on from another computer. Is is possible to use add/remove to add it?

I've been trying to download "killbox" so I'll have it on disk and ready to go if I need it but link keeps taking me to a page that says " Sorry, you cannot leech this file. You must visit the home page here".

Hi Shelia,

We just very recently added downloads to our site. We do require you're logged in as a member to have access to our file downloads. This prevents other sites from linking directly to our downloads (known as leeching).

If you're logged in while trying to download, but are unable, your computer must not be accepting cookies from our site. Try visiting our homepage http://www.geekstogo.com (log in if needed). Then on the left-hand menu look for "Download Files". You'll see the files you want listed under "Virus/Spyware/Security". If you're still unable to download, please reply so we can troubleshoot this issue. <_<
