It all started one night, I went to shut down my computer and it froze. I hit the c+a+d and it said msgsrv32 not responding. I clicked endtask it cleared but my computer remained frozen. Now not only do I keep getting this error anytime I try to shut down, but if I hit the start button or try to run any windows program from reseting the clock to the control panel the computer freezes I get the same message and it will not allow me to click the start button (it remains looking like u just clicked it) and I can't shut down. I have been searching the net it seems alot of people have had similar problems but I can't find any specific anwsers. PS: I have not installed any new programs, devices or sound cards. This problem seemed to just appear out of the blue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome Irishredlr <_<

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files and folders, and remove the following files:

C:\Program Files\TimeSink\ <-- This Folder
C:\Program Files\Bargain Buddy\ <-- This Folder
C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\ <-- This Folder

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\stcloader.exe <-- This File
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\A.EXE <-- This File
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\fyisqqqr.exe <-- This File

Next, please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Click Here to download TheKillbox. Extract TheKillBox.exe from the zip file and double click it to open it up. In the 'Enter Full Path and Filename to Delete' box, copy and paste these entries one by one, clicking 'Find and Kill This File' after each one:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\A.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\FYISQQQR.EXE

Click 'Exit' when done.

Note: If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, download and run: http://www.javacools...ngfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

<_< I am so computer illiterate that if my computer was a dog, they would take it away! Ok I tried to run killbox, but even after running the 2nd program I just kept getting a message that said this is not a valid windows 32 application. So I tried just deleting them again, and this time it let me. Here is my log again: Does it look ok now? So far my computer seems to be acting normal again. Thank you again for your help and patience!!!

I am so computer illiterate that if my computer was a dog, they would take it away!

:D

You were having problems with the KillBox file because it's "compressed" to make it easier to download. You need a special program to "uncompress" or unzip this file. The most well known program is WinZip.

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

If everything seems to be working okay you can delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks.

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.
