LAN problem

So i am connected to another computer and have an Excellent connction with it and am able to go online. but there is a problem. the LAN says it was disconnected and firewalled. i would like this enabled. so i right clicked it and said enable. for 1 sec or so it says connected then for like .5 sec it says acqiuring network adress then it goes straight to NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGED. how can i fix this so i can make my LAN work with this computer and the other. how can i "plug" this network cable in??? thnkx for all your help. :whistling:
