my pc for about a year now has been slowing down performance wise, i orginally put it down to the fact the hard drive wos nearly full, since then i have brought a external hard drive and placed all music, games and videos on there so that my pc has the bare minimal programs. however it is still slow.

i checked task manager today because it seemed very slow, i scan regualrly for virus etc n nothing came up. when i checked the task manager there wos nothing running except the standard process the pc runs yet cpu usage wos at 100% and not falling. why could this be happening?

Hello,

please tell me which process causes the most cpu-usage. And you do well, posting a HijackThis-log so I (we) can check your programs and startup.

Hello,

your CUP-Usage is at a normal level, theres no problem. ( to see in the lowest line: "CPU Usage: 2%" ) But you are running 48 processes and thats maybe a bit too much for your ram. How much RAM do you have?

Please go Here and download the newest version of HijackThis. Please be sure to save it to a permanent directory, such as C:\Prgram Files\HJT. Then run a scan:

Open ==> Press [OK] ==> Hit [Noone of the above just start the scan] ==> after the scan finnished: [Save Log]

An editor opens. Please copy the full text into a new post here.

Edited to add:
I see you added the log. :whistling:
I am not allowed to say something to yout log (forum-rule) but you should update your windows on SP2.

regards,

Well you hi jack log is not showing everything

some trojans and viruses have away to hide from hijack

the only way to see everything is to rename hijackthis to anything like

JHK.EXE you do that by right clicking on hijack then rename then do a fresh hijack log but post it in the MALWARE FORUM
