Iv just installed a second hard drive. Im using windows xp so when i booted it up everything is ok in the bios and when windows started it did the found new hardware and installed the drivers but when i clicked on it in my computer it came up with please install a disk into drive I !!!!! I looked in the disk management and it just says no media. I dont quite know whats going on. Can someone please tell me if its faulty or if im doing something wrong. Thankyou

Hello carlalwalker and welcome to G2G!

If this is a new hard drive then you'll need to partition the drive and format it.
Partitioning and formatting can be done via Disk Management.
Check this Microsoft KB article for details.

I went into the disk management and it wont give me the option to partition it it just has no media under the drive letter

No media is normally only displayed for optic media drives or removable media.
Can you post a screenshot of disk management for me please?

i dont know why but iv got home from work and switched the machine on and its not showing up at all now. everything in the bios says its fine but its not in my computer

Is it displayed in disk management?
Are there any device conflicts showing in device manager?
