Hey, I noticed the several topics on here about this same problem. The symptoms my computer shows are exactly what have been posted previous. unfortunately, I'm not good with computers, and I couldn't figure out how to ask on the previous forums and get an answer. so, I'd appreciate it if someone helped me out a bit. I actually tried to do some of the recommendations, however it's not working, or I never can locate the files on my own computer. I have a Hijack log. Please help~ :tazz:

Hi Celes

Welcome to geekstogo ;)

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a tick against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O23 - Service: ISEXEng - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\angelex.exe (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

ALCXMNTR.EXE

Exit Explorer.

Reboot your system

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Yessir! Will do. I appreciate your help. I must admit, last night trying to look over this mess.... had me more than a little intimidated. Currently running the virus scans and deleted 5 versions of that ALCXMNTR.EXE. You dont have to answer this if you're too busy (I understand) but pray tell what on earth was that thing???? ;)

Again, thank you very much. I'll post both the virus scans as soon as they're both finished. :tazz:

Hi Celes

Welcome to geekstogo!

Using Add Remove Program Files uninstall the following Program
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe

You can reinstall the programwith out the Sponsor program
MessengerPlus - third party MSN Messenger extension that adds a number of useful features. Bundles the hard to remove C2Media LOP adware; the software does offer you a choice during setup: make sure to install MessengerPlus WITHOUT that "sponsor program"!

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check. Then chose Auto start.
Now run the ccleaner

Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure all are checked and then press *ok* to remove:
Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 20MB at the Settings.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop.

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zurnhyhmvjg] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldiscmqs.exe[/B]

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them: If found

C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3<-Delete this folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldiscmqs.exe<--Delete this file
C:\Temp<--Delete the whole folder
C:\WINDOWS\FT*_GEPFAH.EXE[/B[<--Delete this file

Exit Explorer.

Run killbox and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot. For each of the files you could not delete, paste them one at a time into the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot; say No each time until the last one has been pasted in whereupon you should answer Yes.
Let the system reboot.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldiscmqs.exe
End off killbox files

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

[b]Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log
we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Now, When I ran this program, it sais approximately 668 MB to be removed o.O just for my conscience of mind, is it SUPPOSED to be such a massive amount? I run Ad-Aware and Norton often... and even have a Zone Alarm firewall. And when I installed MSN Messenger PLUS! (previously) it gave me the option not to use the sponsor, and I specifically remember declining (I hate that stuff >_<)

But it seems as though the adware was downloaded anyways from the MSN Plus!.... I'm sorry, I realize you're helping me out, I'm just a bit curious. And slightly annoyed that it downloaded despite my wishes.

Again, thanks for the support~ I patiently wait ^_^

Hi Celes

I use the ccleaner and yes it will remove unneeded files, I remember one user where it took over two hour before it finnished.
The ccleaner is very good it will remove many junk files left on your system.
But if you are unsure then don't use it.

Try this way Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure all are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Ah, I'll take your word for it. That's what backing up files is all about. And by the way, it seems (so far) that the postmortem debugger hasn't been giving me trouble. Let's hope the problem's fixed. I really appreciate the help! Sorry if I seemed a bit hestiant. I opened a file that had always given me trouble and it worked (this time >_>) so... looks like this did the trick

Awesome job! I really appreciate the help a lot!

Hi Celes

Welcome to geekstogo!

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Before you remove this right click on the file and check the properties if unsure don't delete post back the information C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldiscmqs.exe

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zurnhyhmvjg] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldiscmqs.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldiscmqs.exe no information in any off my searchs ?

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

I did a full search and couldn't find this file. I even told my computer to search the hidden files and such. And i went manually into the file name and it wasn't there. I check L and I, respectively. should I try another sort of search? :tazz:

I did another search, just to make sure I hadn't forgotten to check the hidden files and such... but the only things that came up were "CollectedData" XLM files. Creepy enough name on it's own. Might this be to what you're referring? I did a screencap, if you're curious. I'd rather learn about what this is than just get rid of it, so it might help other people ;)
but, well. I'll do the instructions you have to the best of my abilities.
