my cd-dvd drive only plays cd not dvds

when i try to play a dvd a message appears on the screan saying that 'access to the specified drive, path or file is denied. however it will play all my cds with out a problem

well i have got windows media 10. and real player 10 as well. but when i place the dvd in the drive it reads it as the name of it comes up in my computer under real player logo. however when i play cds it uses windows media. i have tried using different players to play dvd but none of them work
