ATAPI boot CD failure

Hi all, I'm having trouble booting from my CD-ROM at startup. I changed my boot sequence to CD-ROM, but it says (ATAPI boot CD failure), something like that... then it just skip to boot from my harddrive. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem?? Thanks a lot guys..

IS the CD you're trying to boot from actually bootable? Does it have the necessary boot files on it?

yes, it's the Windows XP CD. I did this long time ago and it worked, but now I get this error message

no, nothing wrong with the CD, cable, power, etc.. is something wrong with my computer

CD Unit problem most likely.

If you have more than one CD drive, put the CD in the other drive - most computers will usually, when told to boot off CD, try every CD unit it can find instead of having to be told to try a specific one.
