Hi all,
my adsense ads have completely disappeared although my adsense account is still active and earnings are coming in. This happened for all the browsers I have e.g. mozilla, opera IE etc.
I believe it maybe something like netcaptor etc which is causing the problem. I haven't downloaded netcaptor though. Please help me.

Hello nicedeals and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions! (Click the Options drop down near the upper right of the topic. Select Print this topic.)

You have been hijacked by those wonderful people in the Ukraine which normally means the Wareout infection. Let’s see what we can do.

I note that you are running HijackThis from Temporary Folder; please create a new folder for it (for example C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\Hijackthis.exe) and move the programme into it. It is very important you do this before anything else since backup files can be deleted if they are not within their own folder!

Click My Computer, then C:\ and then Program Files.
In the menu bar, go to File>New>Folder. That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can right-click on and rename to HJT or HijackThis. Now you have C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Cut ‘n’ Paste your HijackThis.exe into it.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingc.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt), you can close it - the file has already been saved.

Run HijackThis. Click "Do a System Scan Only", and place a check next to the following items (if found):

Be careful with the 017 entries, this one is legitimate: O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{FDB07342-B3FB-473F-B6A8-109740CEEBC6}: NameServer = 80.225.255.50 80.225.255.58

Click FIX CHECKED. Close HijackThis.

Finally, please post the contents of the text file that opened earlier (you can find it at C:\fixwareout\report.txt ), along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Thank you for the quick response and sorry about the duplicate post, I thought I better post it in the corrects section.
My computer does have different users setup on it. i downloaded fixwareout but when I accessed the main administrator account in safemode, I couldn't find the fixwareout icon on the desktop and I only seem to be able to access the main admin account via safemode which means no internet connection.
Anyways, I followed your directions under my main account in safe mode and here are the two text files.

Hello again

I think we are not understanding each other correctly. My instructions inform you that you need to have an admin status to perform the fixes. You can check this by going to User Accounts in the Control Panel and having a look at your account. The account named Administrator is a diagnostic account only available in safe mode. The fix does not ask you to go into safe mode.

To be sure, please run the fix again in normal mode and post the resultant logs. The Fixwareout log may be the same but I'd rather be sure than guess, but the HJT log is of little use when run in safe mode since startups are not loaded.

Did you ensure that you did NOT tick the legitimate 017 entry?

Hello again

Just a couple of files to delete in this account before moving on to others

To start please download the following programmes, we will run them later. Please save them to a place that you will remember, I suggest the Desktop:

Killbox by Option^Explicit
CCleaner
combofix.exe

Open Notepad and copy/paste the text below in the quote box, and "Save As" filter.reg
In the "Save as type" select: All Files

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/webviewhtml]
@="WebView MIME Filter"
"CLSID"="{733AC4CB-F1A4-11d0-B951-00A0C90312E1}"

To use: locate filter.reg right-click and select Merge

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O18 - Filter: text/html - (no CLSID) - (no file)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Please install Killbox by Option^Explicit.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select Delete on Reboot
  • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\{0E9D77BE-98FA-4BF3-A08A-2D9B36C17E01}.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\{8F01A7E7-7388-49E5-BA5B-13960C9B403E}.exe
  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

There is almost certainly bound to be some junk (leftover bits and pieces) on your system that is doing nothing but taking up space. I would recommend that you run CCleaner. Install it, check the default setting in the left-hand pane, ensure you uncheck old prefetch data found under the system tab, and under the heading of Applications uncheck AVGas Anti-malware log then click Analyze> Run Cleaner. You may be fairly surprised by how much it finds. Also click Issues then Scan for issues – fix selected issues

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

When it has finished, it will produce a log. Please post that log in your next reply.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Post back a fresh HijackThis log (from normal mode) and I will take another look.

Hello again

I see two bad folders to get rid of, also ComboFix is telling me that I am not seeing all of your start up programmes; some have been disabled and are now hidden. I will tackle that with this fix as I prefer to delete bad files rather than just disable them.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel (if present):(click Start>Settings>Control Panel)

C:\Program Files\Enigma Software Group\
C:\Program Files\PopCap Games\

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK

Under the "General" Tab

Ensure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" is checked.

Click Apply->OK->Follow the prompts to [b]Restart

Please post a fresh HJT log from normal mode for this account, I think there is some bad stuff in it.

Thank you very much for the help so far. My adsense issue has been resolved. i found the solution on webmaster forum. there were some entries regarding google adsense in the windows:system32:drivers:etc:HOSTS file which needed deleteing.

I do still have some other problems with the system so here's the new HJT logfile with everything running on startup. Also, i was unable to delete the pop cap games bit and i couldn't find the enigma software icon in add/ remove section.

Sorry forgot to mention. This is one of the problems I have;
after starting windows and connecting to the net, a popup with the heading " scvhost.exe - Application Error " and the message " The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000409) occured in the application at location 0x5b86a3c0 " appears. if I click to close it, the internet disconnects even though the bottom right panel shows it as being connected. If I leave the box and just move it to the bottom of the screen, out of my view, I can carry on browsing the web.

Hello again

My apologies, I made a slight error in the last fix. I meant to ask you to find two folders and delete them, but I added a part about Add and Remove Programs, let's call it a senior moment :whistling: and hope I don't get too many of those.

Using Windows Explorer, please find and delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\Enigma Software Group\
C:\Program Files\PopCap Games\

Your HJT log shows Wareout is still alive. Can I just check that you are using Tiscali as your ISP?

Delete the Fixwareout you have on your PC and download a fresh one, there might have been a corruption in the last one.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zango] "c:\program files\zango\zango.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [typeconf] ActionScr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SemanticInsight] C:\Program Files\RXToolBar\Semantic Insight\SemanticInsight.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iehelper] ATLIEHELPER.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msag] startman.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Kargo] TForm1.exe

Click FIX CHECKED. Close HijackThis.

Finally, please post the contents of the text file that opened earlier (you can find it at C:\fixwareout\report.txt ), along with a new HijackThis log from normal mode, into this topic.

A couple of those entries will not disappear, so I will need another fix.

I need to check something, you mention a bootup error naming scvhost.exe (which is a Trojan), however svchost.exe is legitimate. Please check and advise on that message.

Finally, in this fix, please flush your DNS:

1. Open the start menu and click on the Run icon.

2. In the "Run" dialog box type in command then click OK.

3. This should open up a black box with a command line, if not make sure you spelled "command" correctly.

4. At the command line type in ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.

5. You should get a confirmation that says "Windows IP Configuration Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache"

6. If you don't get this confirmation double check your spelling of "ipconfig /flushdns".

7. Congratulations you have now flushed out the old DNS entries on your computer!

What's this...you can make mistakes too??? I refuse to believe that :whistling:

OK got rid of the enigma and pop games folders..

deleted old fizwareout, new one installed, ran it etc.

yes I have Tiscali as my internet service provider

sorry i'm not sure what you want me to check on the svchost.exe..the message is in the form of a pop-up and has the message as mentioned earlier.

New Logs given below. Thanks!

Hello again

This is what you wrote: a popup with the heading " scvhost.exe This is what I queeried

I need to check something, you mention a bootup error naming scvhost.exe (which is a Trojan), however svchost.exe is legitimate. Please check and advise on that message.

Please note the difference between scvhost.exe and svchost.exe, the former is a Trojan and must be deleted, whilst the latter is normal and quite legitimate. I need to know exactly what the spelling is of that file, SVC OR SCV?

I've been looking into the error message assuming that the file mentioned was SVChost.exe and from what I can glean it is not a malware issue. It appears to be solved by updating Windows with the latest patches. Some are laying blame to sound/audio drivers, others just mentioning thrid party software. Have you recently added a bit of kit to your puter?

Using Windows Explorer, please find and delete these two folders:

c:\program files\zango\
C:\Program Files\RXToolBar\

How's the PC running now?
