I currently have a malware problem and am working through the self help guide. (thank you for doing this!!!)

But I cannot get to my desktop when i go into safe mode.

My system is XP, i hit f8, and choose the safe mode option, i can then enter my user name and password.
But all i get is Safe Mode in all four corners, Service pack 2 (i think) blah blah blah - across the top and a black screen. There is no change after 10 minutes of waiting.

I can access my ctrl-alt-delete but that is it.

thanks
