* Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall this old version of Java:

Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

* Now go here and install the latest version of Java.


* Run Hijack This again and put a check by this entry. Close ALL windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winpsa32 - winpsa32.dll (file missing)


* Restart your computer.


* Run Kaspersky online virus scan here.

After the updates have downloaded, click on the "Scan Settings" button.
Choose the "Extended database" for the scan.
Under "Please select a target to scan", click "My Computer".
When the scan is finished, Save the results from the scan!

Note: You have to use Internet Explorer to do the online scan.

Post a new HiJackThis log along with the results from Kaspersky scan

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
• You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK

• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.

• Turn your computer back on.

OK removed old Java and installed new version. Ran HiJack This and fixed 020 - winlogon notify: winpsa32.dll (file missing). Restarted ran Kaspersky. Did the Vundo Fix scan and it said no infected files were found. So no log for that. It is blank. Ran Hijack This again.

Oher than a few backup files and some in system restore, you should be good to go. You can go ahead and delete the C:\avenger\backup.zip file. We'll deal with System Restore and Killbox backups when you tell me everything else is OK.

How is the computer running now?

OK deleted the C:\avenger\backup.zip. The computer seems to be good. No pop ups or anything so far. I did have an issue with things not printing earlier today. They would just sit there in pending. I messed with the settings and clicked print spooled files first. Now I see this in my log :: C:\WINDOWS\system32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\DLBFPSWX.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\DLBFJSWX.EXE. I am assuming that is from that. What exactly is this spool thing? Should I go change that back? I hate to run things if they really don't need to be. They just hog space and speed.

Do we leave the virus files that are quarantined there or delete them? Also, since we downloaded so many things please tell me (after we get done with everything, Kill box and system restore stuff) which ones I should leave on my puter and what ones to delete /uninstall. Also should I be running both Norton and AVG antispyware at the same time? I think windows defender is on here too but I can only use one firewall, so I went with the norton one. Should I delete that program (Windows Defender)?

I'd say to keep, Killbox, ewido, Hijack This and ATF Cleaner. Delete or uninstall via add/remove programs all the rest, whichever applies.

* If I had you use Killbox to delete any files, go ahead and delete the C:\!Killbox folder then empty the Recycle Bin.


* Check this out for info on how to tighten your security settings and some good free tools to help prevent this from happening again.


* Go to Windows update and install all "High Priority Updates".


* Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.

I will do all that you posted. I am still having issues with not being able to print. The documents set in queue and I have a hard time deleting/ cancelling them from there. Could this be a virus thing or something else?
