Is it possible for me to reset administrator password for Windows XP machine which has joined a domain? I tried ERD 2005's Locksmith but it didn't work. Any suggestions? :tazz: Thanks in advance.

yes, but the machine still retains a local administrator password...

Petter Nordahl-Hagen offline password editor hasn't failed me yet...

Hi,

I agree with gerryf, try the NT Password Editor. It has yet to fail me as well. Btw, heres a working link. ;)

Please make sure you read the FAQ before you do anything!

Thanks for your help, but I also tried Petter Nordahl-Hagen offline password editor, but it won't do any good if the computer joined a domain. Petter Nordahl-Hagen offline password editor won't pick up Administrator account (Administrator account won't be shown on the editable list). It only shows other account with admin privilege, but when I edit that account's password, it accepted the new password at the time, but when I use my new password for it to login, it denied my access, login error!

Is it impossible to change admin password once the computer has joined a domain??? Thanks for the help, folks.

Change WHAT password?

The LOCAL MACHINE password, or the DOMAIN password? Please make yourself clear. I have the feeling you are not quite sure what you are after.

If it is the local machine password, did you read the info--changing the password to blank works better than trying to change the password...then, you log back into THE LOCAL MACHINE, and change the password within Windows to achieve the desired result.

Change local machine, not domain.

Change local admin password to blank better than anything else? I didn't know that. I changed local admin password to something else and it DID NOT work. Let me try to change it to blank password to see if it works or not. Thank you for your suggestion!
