It sounds like you are talking about Auto Complete. If that is the case, here is a good explanation with pictures.

Hello poppyal...
Here's some settings you can check before we get too carried away.
Open Control Panel and double click on "Internet Options". Under the "Content" tab, in the "Personal Information" section, click the "AutoComplete" button.
In the AutoComplete Settings window, tick the boxes next to "Usernames and passwords on forms" and "Prompt me to save passwords" and click "Ok". "Apply" the change.

Hi again, wannabe1. I've tried what you suggested, but to no avail. When I ticked the boxes and hit O.K. the "apply" button did not highlight - it was not available as an option. Should I go with the previous post, or do you have further suggestions? Thanx.

Thanx, braxton. I can and will follow your suggestions if necessary. I have no problem editing the registry, but I prefer to avoid that if I can. Thanx, again.

Editing the registry is always the last option unless you know exactly what you're after...
There are several other things we need to look at for this.
Is the Secure Storage Service started? Click Start, then Run, type services.msc and click "Ok". In the list of services, locate Secure Storage and see if it is listed as being started. If it is not started, right click on it and choose "Start". (We may revisit this one and do a stop and restart, but there are some cautions involved so we'll come back only if we must.)
See if it will remember the password...if no joy:
Click Start, then Run, type Regsvr32 /u RSABase.dll and click "Ok".
You should see the message: "DllUnregisterServer in RSABase.dll succeeded."
Click Start, then Run, type Regsvr32 RSABase.dll and click "Ok".
You should see the message: "DllRegisterServer in RSABase.dll succeeded."
Click "Ok" and restart Internet Explorer if you have it running.
See if it will remember the password...
The next one is a bit more involved, so give these a shot one at a time and let me know how it goes.

Good one!
Now I gotta switch to my XP machine and poke around. I think Secure Storage is a Windows Component, but I'll need to check...
