i sense you want value here. I would suggest you browse dell.com a bit just to get a sense how much a system would cost there. Suprisingly you can get a fairly decent system with a lcd monitor for around $600 with os installed (shop for those dells, or hassle the salsemen/women over the phone for the best deal possible). Plus your parents will have the help of dell tech support.
Antec Sonata II is a very wise choice, it's a beautiful case. I love mine

I thought that this would be a nice system to build as a first time build, plus my parents do need a new pc. Thanks

Looks good, just remember that if you arent getting a gfx cardthen make sure it is integrated and if it is integrated make sure its up to what youre parents want to do it might be worth it to get a cheap card.

Thats an ATX case so you can get a full size motherboard so you can get a normal ATX rather than micro atx ones you have picked nothing wrong with them but you either pay a premium for a smaller board with all its features or less for a smaller board for fewer features you seem to be paying on the more side youll be better with ATX.

Memory wise the motherboards are DDR or DDR2 so make sure you get the correct memory for the system.

It really does depend on which country you're from. Due to the Vista-ready craze, anything from one 512mb+ ram chip will cost a fortune as prices are rising due to the increased demand. Your best bet is to shop around and find the best deals online. You'll find 99% of things cheaper online, but you could try some shops because they may have some seriously good bargains

Also, you mentioned it's for your parents. What is the intended use for it? And keep it clean :whistling:

Memory prices just havent dropped its rare in most regions for there to be an actual increases in prices although it has gone up some places as stocks have been diverted.

If you are going for a cheap system and one easy to build i would reccomend an AMD system they generally at that end of the market offer more performance for your money and are cheaper to start with. Also an AM2 system from AMD would offer you better upgrade potential than an intel system you are planning.
