Hi QuickSix17 and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

4. Make double sure to disable Spybot's Tea Timer for now, as it can interfere with the fixing of problems.

Open Spybot and and make sure you are in Advanced mode (check it in the 'Mode' menu). Go to the Tools section and click resident and then uncheck the box for Tea Timer.

Then, reboot.

5. Through the Add/Remove programs module of your control panel, I want you to UNINSTALL the following programs, if present:

Messenger Plus!3
Wild Tangent
Desks Ad Service
Auto Updater
Wintools
Lime Shop

6) through Windows Explorer I want you to delete the following folders and all their content, if present:

C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3
C:\Program Files\Wild Tangent
C:\Program Files\Desk AdService
C:\Program Files\Auto Updater
C:\Program Files\WinTools
C;\Progarm Files\Lime Shop

7) I need you to install Ad-Aware and configure both Ad-Aware and Spybot, update them and run both of them according to the instructions provided at the bottom of the post in my signature pane. Remember to REBOOT your system after having run each one,

8) Run HijackThis with all windows closed except for HJT, click on SCAN, produce a log and POST the log back into this thread.

Regards,

Trevuren

SpySweep said it succesfully removed a browser hijacker from my system, and it did. It works alot better than Adaware. Here's my log, please check it over.

Hi Quicksix17,

Before we start our massive cleanup, I need some info about any proxy connections you may have.

Look in your log, specially at the 017 entries and tell me if you know if these settings belong to your ISP or anything else you may know about them.

My research turns up SanFrancisco, Kacspersky and Ripe Network, Amsterdam.

Who is your ISP and do you use any proxy service?
I can't just go and delete these without knowing because if they are LEGIT, I end up by ruining your TCIP connection.

Hi QuickSix17,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following Mandatory items as well as those Optional items that you choose based upon the information provided in green.

Hi QuickSix17, we are nearly finished.

1) Please download Winhelp2002's Deldomains.inf to your desktop.

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select Install

Once it is finished your Zones should be reset.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE/Spyads, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE/Spyads, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select Install

Once it is finished your Zones should be reset.

2) Run HJT with all windows closed, SCAN and Post the log back into this thread.

Regards,

Trevuren

HI QuickSix17,

I would like you to send me a last log for review. I need to make sure that all the bad stuff is gone.
