Hi. Don't always think in terms of money. There's some good firewalls out there that are free, and work just as good. I use Zone Alarm Free, and it's the best firewall I could want really. You can download it here: http://www.download....2-10039884.html ... I also hear that there are some others out there, but I have never used them myself.

That Comodo Firewall looks like it is a pretty stable firewall with a nice price tag - £free :whistling:

So will NOD32 and Comodo secure my PC after my Norton Subscription runs out?

(I also use spybot - search and destroy and ad-aware etc quite often)

Comodo have an anti virus but it is in beta, so you could try their firewall with AVG free and crosscheck it with these, then see how the Comodo anti virus runs when it is out of beta

Online Scans

Panda Scan

House Call

If Trend Micro freezes during updating, close then retry

Trend Micro Spyware Scan

Kaspersky Online Scan

Or you can use Comodo firewall and NOD32 which would protect the PC

Im sure NOD comes with something although it may be something passive like the avast network shield. I definately remember something along those lines when i used NOD, but maybe im mistaken i dont actually use software firewalls anymore other than the one thats with avast and windows, between my PC and my router ive got three hardware firewalls between me and the outside world which i more than sufficeint.

it has some good features for a freebie and is working well here

Where did you read these comparisons ??

the tests i saw were from a friends email. i expect they were a newsgroup thread. no actual site was listed just the results.

i would sure like to see an unbiased firewall shootout of as many offerings as could be gathered to see which would actually do the best under an agreed battery of testing. from basic packet filter right on up on the scale and then rated.

So when my Norton Subscription runs out, what is the procedure to remove it??

Just go to Add/Remove programs and then remove Norton Internet Security 2006. Then remove any old folders left after uninstallation??
