sound problem

hi
after a hard drive crash on my laptop, i have fitted a new hard drive and installed windows xp pro.
however there is no longer any sound .
and the hardware manager says there is no device installed (code 28)

can anyone advise as to the sound system on the comp and whereabouts of appropriate drivers ?

comp is a packard bell easynote H5

also scrolling very slow on internet since new drive fitted ??


any help welcome ..
