This seems to be a general issue that has been happening on my system recently.

In the installers for 2 games I've purchased, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Flight Simulator X; they always encounter errors whenever they write or modify a certain file in the temp directory.

Luckily the tech support for Ghost Recon directed me to a batch file with these lines:

@echo off
echo "" > %temp%\{F5AE3ED9-997F-4256-87F4-D448E4072CFA}\{EFC97089-04D6-42CE-A707-A343B4A7D2CD}\valid.txt

with Flight Simulator X though, i'm not as lucky. I gathered a log from the installation:

MSI (s) (64:A4) [08:52:53:609]: Executing op: CustomActionSchedule(Action=SLDLInstall.3758AFA0_47DC_11DA_A553_000E7B3AD65E,ActionType=1026,Source=BinaryData,Target=/I @C:\Documents and Settings\Kent\Local Settings\Temp\~SL23.tmp,)
MSI (s) (64:A4) [08:52:54:187]: Note: 1: 1722 2: SLDLInstall.3758AFA0_47DC_11DA_A553_000E7B3AD65E 3: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\MSI31.tmp 4: /I @C:\Documents and Settings\Kent\Local Settings\Temp\~SL23.tmp
MSI (s) (64:A4) [08:54:00:421]: Product: Microsoft Flight Simulator X -- Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action SLDLInstall.3758AFA0_47DC_11DA_A553_000E7B3AD65E, location: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\MSI31.tmp, command: /I @C:\Documents and Settings\Kent\Local Settings\Temp\~SL23.tmp

Again there's a reference to a temp folder. I was wondering if there was anything wrong on my side that would cause this to happen.
