I've been having a lot of trouble with problems in my registry, and miscellanious pop ups after Windows starts up and while using IE7.0. It begins with an error message about "iesettingsupdate," an error with my Linksys Wireless Network Adapter, then snow-balls from there. I've searched these threads and tried to follow advice given to others who seemed to have similar problems as myself, but without much luck.

I notice that you have Windows Defender running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. You can re-enable this when your computer is already clean.

Disable Windows Defender

• Go to Tools » General Settings
• Scroll down to Real-time protection options
• Uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended)

Then, in the toolbar across the top there is a little downpointing arrow next to the question mark icon.
Click on that, get a drop down list. One of the options is to exit Windows Defender.
Click on that, and there will be a pop up asking if you are sure you want to exit. Click Yes/OK.

I only received one error message when starting up after the reboot from KillBox: "Cannot find 'http://trafficsolution.com/bc/adrotator.php'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."

Hello,

I see that you don't have any Anti-Virus running on your machine. This is very important, because without it, you are like begging for all the viruses to get inside your PC, Anti-Virus softwares will serve as your shield against these bad guys.

Download AVG AntiVirus Free and then install it.
Configure it how you wish then update it. Next, perform a full system scan. Remove/quarantine everything found. Reboot.

Run an online scan at Panda's ActiveScan

• Please go here using Internet Explorer.
• Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button.
• A new window will open, click the big Check Now button.
  • Enter your Country.
  • Enter your State/Province.
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send.
  • Select either Home User or Company.
  • Click the big Scan Now button.
• If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it.
• It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan.
• When the download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan.
• When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
• Post the Panda report along with a new Hijackthis log.

My computer was so wacked out.

I just did a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate RC1 and everything seems to have repaired itself.
