A friend of mine is having trouble hooking up an external SATA drive via USB to his windows XP computer. XP recognizes it in that it says that new hardware has been installed, but we are unable to find the drive on the computer. It doesn't show up anywhere. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Disk Management.

Go to the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Disk Management. In there you should be able to see your new drive. Right-click on it to find options to initialise it, and then format it. It will then show up in My Computer.
