Please re-run HJT

Put check next to the following entry

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.qzfojosxl...IPpwfG9OG_X.htm

Have HJT fix it.

Can you also tell me if there are there are multiple users on this computer or any other usernames associated with this PC?

Reboot your pc then rescan with HJT and submit the new log on this thread.

Thats the new log. Btw, im the only user, apart from this "admin" option.
Btw, at times i cant seem to open firefox and msn on reboot if i do not log on to them immediately, and will have to restart comp. And when i do, everytime without fail, i'll have this error, "xpcom:event receiver" and i'll have to click on end process.

Also, despite the spysearch and destroy's clean log, my comp just restarted itself yesterday, everytime its due to opening of a program or while clicking on some refresh or thingy, and this never happens when im on idle. What could have happened? =/

Hi Morose,

In order to look further into your problems, please do the following:

Download Silent Runners
Unzip it to a permanent folder.

Start SilentRunners.vbs
When your antivirus is giving an alert, do not block this. Allow the script.

Copy and paste the content of the txtfile you get afterwards in your next reply.

Hi morose,

Can you now do the following please

Download pv.zip, and unzip it to your desktop.

It will not work if you run it from inside the zip.

Open the pv folder and double-click "runme.bat". A DOS box will open. Select Option 1

Type 1 for Explorer Dll's

and press <Enter>.

Notepad will open text in it. Copy and paste the text into a new post.

Hi Morose,

We have now analysed the logs that you have sent and they all indicate that your PC is clean.

It looks like the problem relates to Firefox or Mozilla, which one are you using?

Have you up-dated recently to a newer version? Firefox latest version is 1.0.2, Mozilla is 1.7.6.

I suggest that you try uninstall and re-install of your Browser.

We need to determine if it is a Firefox issue.

Regards,

Usetobe

Hi Morose,

Firefox is from Mozilla.

I still believe that one of the problems is a Firefox issue

Just to make certain you have the latest version of FIREFOX, please download it from Mozilla site from link below.

Link for FIREFOX

I can confirm that over-heating is a likely source of your Reboot problem and that a fan may be just the thing you need to take care of that problem.

Regards,

Usetobe

Hi Morose,

Further to my last post, please ensure that you remove your current installation of Firefox in ADD/REMOVE Programs in Control Panel, before you install the version you get from Firefox link.

Regards,

Usetobe

If you are up for it, I would like you to try a different program to use to connect to MSN. This program is Free, light, and easy to use. It is also a multiple network program which means you can use it for MSN, Yahoo, IRC, ICQ, and AIM. You can check it out here.

http://www.miranda-im.com

If you like it and it works for you, then you can completely uninstall the msn messenger that is giving you problems.

As for cooling, back when I used to overclock so that I could game effectively, I would leave the side of my case off or cut big holes in it. You should be fine leaving the side off. So long as you dont mind the noise from within.

Are you getting the xpcom error when you are using firefox.. or msn? Now I am confused.

Try the alternate IM program and then reply back with your findings.

How is your computer running software wise?

Here in the malware removal forum we specialize in the removal of malware/spyware/adware/virii/trojans. Once we are sure that your computer software is safe and ready to go, then I believe it would be in your best interest to start a new thread about your heating issue in the hardware forum where there are people who are more properly equipped to deal with that issue.

I am not trying to say that we do not want to help you! Not in the least, but there are others here who deal with hardware more who will likely be able to help you better.

Please continue here with your FireFox/MSN error and start a new thread in the hardware forum about your heating issues.

Actually you dont have to start over. I can split the part of this thread that deals with the heat issue into a seperate post that will be in the hardware forum. There usetobe can continue to help you or someone else can.

For now, please let us know how you came out with your software issue.
