Some time ago I downloaded some movies from a site overseas (Korea). Some of them played fine of Windows Media but some of them asked for Codecs. So I tried Real Player and also some of them played as well. There is another media player that I have wich is call GOM Player in wich played all of them (I downloaded from a Korean site). Why are the codecs different in every country? And most importanlty why are they all different? And How can I download Coadecs that I need?

Thank you in advance for your attention. :whistling:

Perhaps it is the file type you are referring to. If you download from a website, it might differs between them all. And Win media player don't support newer type files like .mkv . Thus, you need something else that supports it. Sometimes, it might be better to download some other media player from the internet; as it might be a better choice to play your file. Still, you can also download codecs directly from the internet such as: http://www.mpegx.com , http://www.free-codecs.com or http://www.mympxplayer.org

Some recommendations are:
VLC media player
Jet Audio
