Is anything else messing up on this machine? I see now that the search function is not working correctly.
Describe for me just what happens when you right click on a desktop icon. On a clear area of the desktop?

I'm gonna tell u the whole story. It started off when i logged onto my computer, and I saw my bro had dowloaded a Nero keygen and when he ran it he told me that a program tried to access the internet. So he allowed it and popups went crazy. So I ran Ad-aware and SpyBot multiple times. I ran through my own HJT log and got rid of everything associated with it. I know i am clean of malware. But after that, I could no longer right click my desktop or right click in anything to do with Windows Explorer. When I right click on either my desktop or in Windows Explorer it just selects the item like a right click does but the little menu does NOT come up. Since u mentioned my Search function also yes its gone, and that also went after the malware.

I have the same exact problem and cleared the virus with the same exact softwares. I also can't use the "Search" function, looks like when the Virus hit, it disabled a lot of things. My task manager, msconfig, and many other main commands were disabled. I some how managed to get those up and running but I'm kind of stuck on this one. I'm able to right click on taskbar and had followed the instruction by wannabe1, I do have my drag and drop box checked. Please advise.

If you are absolutely sure that you are malware free...
Try this REPAIR to your installation of XP. This procedure will not damage or change your current files or settings...it will just repair or replace damaged system files. You will be asked for your Installation CD and may be asked for your product key. Follow the instructions carefully...print them out if you can. Note: This option is not always available on OEM Recovery Cd's
Once this repair has completed, you will have to download all Windows Updates again.

Seeing as how you've tried everything else, might want to give this a try:
1. Open your favorite registry editor and navigate to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer
2. In the right pane, double click NoViewContextMenu.
3. Set the value data to 0.
4. Close the registry editor.
