I keep getting preparing to install message at start up and at just about every time i try to press start

Welcome Extract and sorry for the delay in getting to you. Firstly could you re-run Hijack This again to give me a fresh look at your system. While I am analysing it could you download and instal the Installer clean up utility from MS read and follow the instructions on that page, the download link is at the bottom. Does the installer say which programme is trying to install?

In addition to the HJT log could you include an uninstall list

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

You currently have TWO anti virus programs running, this is not an advisable situation to have as they will fight over resources and try to scan each other as they scan a file. This can lead to system slowdowns or freezes in the worst case. I would recommend that you uninstall the eAcceleration one for this reason Rogue spyware. Could you please do that and repost a new HJT log. I will need a new log because one of the eAcceleration files is similar to spysheriff and I need to see which it is..

Also are you still getting the install problem and if so what program is trying to install?

I see that you have cleanup please run this now

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
  
• Delete Cookies
  
• Delete Prefetch files (if present)
  
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to log-off/reboot at the end, if it does please do so.

Next download AVG Anti-Spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program

• Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  
• Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
  
• On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
  • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  
  
• Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  
• Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
  
• Under "Reports"
  • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
    
  • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close AVG Anti-Spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

• Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.
  IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
  
• Lauch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  
• Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
  
• AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
  Once the scan is complete do the following:
  
• If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
  
• Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
  
• Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
  
• Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the AVG Anti-Spyware report scan.

If you are no longer using Symantec then Go to Start > Run and type Services.msc then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Now to clear your Java cache

[*]Go into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
[*]Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
[*]There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 Checked

[*]Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
[*]Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

1. Download this file - combofix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

ActiveX issue happens every time I try the panda online scan method. It tell me that i have not allowed the activex control from the site to download but I did. Also suggested a malfunction in my internet connection
which is fine. I tried scanning multiple times and keep getting the same message.

Your previous log is clean, if you wish to retain eAcceleration that is your prerogative.

Now to get you off to a good start we will re-set your restore points so that all the bad stuff is gone for good. Then if you need to restore at some stage you will be clean. There are several ways to reset your your restore point but this is my method:

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore.
2. On the dialogue box that appears select Create a Restore Point
3. Click NEXT
4. Enter a name e.g. Clean
5. Click CREATE

You now have a clean restore point, to get rid of the bad ones:

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > Disk Cleanup.
2. In the Drop down box that appears select your main drive e.g. C
3. Click OK
4. The System will do some calculation and the display a dialogue box with TABS
5. Select the More Options Tab.
6. At the bottom will be a system restore box with a CLEANUP button click this
7. Accept the Warning and select OK again, the program will close and you are done

• Crapcleaner this can be set to clear your temp files on start-up. Not as thorough as Cleanup but it is set and forget.
  
  
• IE7 a stable and more secure browser with the added bonus of tabs
  
  
  
• Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  
  
• Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  
  
• Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
