the above way is correct but sometimes the picture is put in active desktop and cannot be remove that way, most of the scareware uses this method so here is the other place to look if the first way does not work

If screen is hijacked by a picture you cannot remove in the normal way

runbox command

press keyboard buttons: winkey + r
paste to slot: desk.cpl @0,0
click: customize desktop
click tab: web
normally the problem that has hijacked your screen is in the 'web pages' window, hilight it and delete

Right click the desktop, click properties, click desktop, is it set for stretch

You can use a picture from here if you need one

http://www.microsoft...ds/nzbliss.mspx

Click any picture to open, then right click it, click set as background, minimize or close the browser windows

Is the picture set as the background

Right click the desktop, click properties, click desktop, is there a list of images, the top should be none, if you select it, does the preview show plain blue, if you click apply, does it change the desktop to plain blue

Do you have the location of the folder you downloaded the wallpapers to?

If you can find the one from the link, right click it, click save picture as, note the name, click cancel

Click start then search, look for the file name, if you do not need it, send it to the recycle bin, restart the PC
