System restore wont work

I fixed Msnvia other means, system restore works. Thank you very much. Ironically i asked a friend who just came online and he had the same problem so he told me how to fix it. Thank you for your help, i intend to defrag it etc still though in order to speed it up.Thank you once again.

Indeed. I simply followed some instructions my friend linked me too:

Another for XP:
1. Click start, and run %PROGRAMFILES%\MSN Messenger
2. In the list of files, click right-click MSNMSGR, and then click
Properties.
3.In the Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab, and then clear
the "Run this program in compatibility mode" box.
4.Click OK.
5.then start messenger

Quite simple really i suppose. However whilst browsing i did finda large amount of alternate solutions, but this one worked for me luckily.
