Hi there,

it all started with McAfee(Which I was subscribed to) told me to upgrade my Virus Scan Programm.
Once I followed all the instruction, Virus Scan was gone.
All Attempts to reInstall failed. It always showed an error in the middle of the install.
So I Removed McAfee completely, everthing. Still I could no Re-Install it from Mcafees Site or for any other like Download.com. Always fails.

So I decided that I am done with Mcafee, since their Customer Service sucks. I downloaded Panda VirusScanner, But when I want to install it, it tells me to first Remove McAfee VirusScan.

So I downloaded the Removal Tools from McAfee, ran it, restarted, tried again, SAME Problem.

HOW inthe World can I Get Rid of this Stupid McAfee crap????

HELP!!! :whistling:

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Hi. Try running a Disk Defragment by clicking on Start, hilight All programs, hilight Accessories, hilight System Tools, and click on Disk Defragmenter. Let it run the dirve you are using, and then try again. This sometimes helps.

Go to control panel> add or remove programs. Is the Mcafee virus scanner listed there? If so select it and press remove.

No McAfee is not listed in Add/Remove Programms.

Dont remember which version it was, it was the whole security Center suite.
I uninstalled all of it, yet somewhere there must be something remaining on my Harddrive.

I could point you to the manual uninstall instructions if you know what version you had.

Otherwise all I can suggest is to run tuneup 2006:

Prefetch is clickable for more information

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, (all files will highlight), right click any file, click delete, confirm

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up

Reboot

Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools to run defragmenter

Download, install and run
Tune Up 2006 Trial

Run Tune Up disc clean up

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Disable the anti virus programme then click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Check the anti virus programme is running

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Click optimize and improve then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor

Not sure how you do this but after doing some research in order to fully remove it you haveto clean up the registry too.

The source i visited suggests this is the method to remove it from the reigstry, however with little knowledge on the subject, i only post this so someone can perhaps check it? Wouldnt advise following it yet lol.

PS to get to this screen Run>regedit.

"Click on (+) mark before HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on (+) mark before software.
There you will see McAfee and McAfee.com folder please delete both.

Check for Network associates folder then click on delete.
Click on (+) mark before Microsoft.
Click on (+) mark before windows.
Click on (+) mark before Current Version.
Click on Run. You will see the entries on McAfee on the right side of the page please select one by one then delete it."

WIll need to restart after.

CHECK WITH SOMEONE WHO KNOWS BEFORE DOING THE ABOVE.
