I'm trying to add a menu option to play an audio mp3 with a background showing as it plays.

What freeware tool can I use to convert if necessary.

Do I need to create and mpg file with background while playing an mp3 that's converted to the appropriate file format?

Thanks, can you recommend a good link that will help me figure out how to do this?
I am very new to all this and struggling big time trying to figure out what tools do what.
I've been searching the web for suggestions, forums, anything and really struggling.

Is there anyone that can get me going in the right direction.

I downloaded GX Transcoder, I don't see an output format for mpg, is it mp2???

I get so confused with all the different audio formats. Is there a good reference that can explain all the differences.

Do I convert to mp2 and then to mpg or am I missing something.

Please somebody, I'm so frustrated and have downloaded over 30 tools trying to do what I thought was a simple task.

What do the following mean etc. a guide to help me understand the following but not limited to this list

ac3
mp2
mp3
mpeg2
mpeg3
mpg
mpc
m2v
wav
wma
pcm
ogg


Also, what are the purposes of the following:
encoder
decoder
mux
demux


Again, I'm very new at all this DVD authoring stuff and trying to find good resources to help me tackle these challenges.
