I have resently taken on the task of reparing a freinds computer (trying)

symptoms; constant crashes, freezing up,system restor takes hours to go back to a restor point if it does not crash or freez up.

I am constantly getting an error message (dll c:\windows\system32\plugin.osx is not a valid file

he has recently installed a new video card (geforce 5500)
a thumb reader
and his operting system win xp pro (is suspect the computer shop tech who installed the program never gave him a cd and is no longer in the business)

I am fairly knowledgable about computers but i am stumped as what to do any help would be appreciated
