I don’t know how I did it, but I managed to completely disable my desktop.
The only way now for me to get apps running is through the task manager.
Can anyone help me restore my desktop without re-installing the OS.
OS: windows 2000 pro sp4
HW: Toshiba Tecra

If you can get to run or command prompt then insert the XP CD type sfc /scannow then press enter. You get a blue bar which goes accross then off when complete. Reboot to see how it is, if no change, go to run or command prompt then type chkdsk /f /r then press enter, then watch a film cos it takes ages.
