Hi

Hope someone can help with this. I suspect there is some spyware infected on my machine, also every time on boot up it's going into scan disc, but getting stuck on 99%.

Have you tried updating to SP2? I think that is your main problem right now.

Please disable winpatrol until I tell you to enable it again:

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Is the disc scan starting automatically at start-up?

Try booting in toto safe mode and conducitng the scan.

Thanks for this. It turns out that I didn't actually install SP2, it was something else. I have now installed the correct SP2 which seems to resolved my boot problems.

Do you think I should still do as you mentioned to be safe?

Thanks again for this. It has been running OK (a bit slow, but think that is due to disc space). I have done as instructed, but can't boot in safe mode, it get's stuck and won't boot up. Anyway the scan disc resolved itself after I downloaded SP2.

Are you hitting F8 and tapping it every second or so before you get to the welcome screen?

OK, I'll do this in a minute. Yes I'm pressing f8 and getting to the correct screen and given the option to boot in safe, and with networking, but booting through safe mode it comes up with a list of files on a black screen but sticks.

I've also noticed when going on line, when loading a website ie hotmail, on the bottom bar it usually says finding/found/loading hotmail, but it seems to be flashing between different things, the only one I can see is "transferring date from atdmt.com", it goes really fast.
