In my signature the is a link for a 1 year free trial to E Trust anti virus.
I have never used a firewall on my 98 machines.

I'd go with Avast and Zone Alarm.

If you decide on ZoneAlarm for your firewall I suggest you use an older version 5.5.94.0 should do your 98se system just fine

Hello,

I'm not an expert but I asked the same question to my brother in law who works at Sony and he told me AVG, Zone Alarm, and Ad Aware for cookies and stuff. I saw AVG on a report by BBC World and it was in their list of top protectors. I've also heard great reports by people that say Avira antivirus (the one with the red umbrella logo) that say it is also very strong and Avira was also the report by BBC World. These ones I've mentioned to you all come free and update themselves everytime you log on to the internet. I vouch for them all as good. But perhaps you can find the report on the BBC World website. :whistling:

As people mentioned in this post, these AV's and Firewalls are good.

AVG
Avast!
AntiVir

Firewalls:
Sygate
Zone Alarm!

zonealarm can be a pain at times but it is very good.

Spybot also has Tea Timer protection.
