Recently I used this site to remove malware from a friends computer. Since that time I have not been able to install any windows updates. At first it wouldn't install the validation software. This computer had service pack 1a on it. I thought that might be the problem since Microsoft no longer supports SP1 or 1a. I found a copy of SP2 and installed it. I went back to Windows update and had the same trouble. I then investigated and found a program on the microsoft site that will validate Windows without using windows update. After I finished this process I went back to Windows Update yet again. This time it downloaded 23 security updates but the install failed. I have tried deleting cookies, temporary internet files and other misc things but still nothing. By the way, when I go to "turn off the computer" it gives the option to shut down and install updates. I tried that also but during the install I was stopped by the blue screen of death! In fact, when I rebooted next time it wouldn't completely boot without going right back to the blue screen of death. I then booted it up with the last known good configuration and that is where I am at. I tried getting help from Mirosft support but they have been pretty lame and really haven't offered a lot of help. I then decided to turn to my good friends and experts at geeks to go! Can you help?
