:whistling: My son went to click on a music icon and it would not work. My ever helpful hubby restarted the computer. He thought it was frozen. When the computer restarted there were no icons on the desktop at all! I am accessing the programs through window task manager. How do I get my icons back??????

When you click on "My Computer" then find "desktop" do you still see the programs and shortcuts the icons represented? If yes, try to roll back using System Restore, located in Start> Accessories> System Tools. Post back if that doesn't restore your desktop.

After posting last evening I poked around in my task menu and found that explorer is no longer running. I tried to run explorer but it only ran for a split second. The feelings of dread quickly overcame me as I can see where this is going to go. I am probably going to have to reinstall windows aren't I? I am going to try and repair it first if I can find the website.

When you say "explorer" do you mean "Internet Explorer" or "Windows Explorer"? Are you posting from the problem computer?

How is it going? Were you able to get to System Restore?
