Dear forum,
My problem has had previous posts, I see, and is similar, namely - Almost immediately after a successful dialup connection (56k modem), windows freeze for 5 mins, and then, spontaneously burst back into normal activity with everything, including the internet connection intact. PC-Cillin, Ad-Aware, Panda Active scans have not solved the problem. I am not sure if this might be software, or hardware related??
Perversely, occasionally, the above freeze does not occur! -?significance.
Also, unhelpfully, EventViewer does not even register the freeze.
I have run Registry Mechanic and corrected some 300 errors there..nohelp.
I have run Hijackthis, but cannot guess if any culprits.
I hope that the problem has a software solution.

Apologies for replying to my own post.
But I cannot believe my luck!
In another post by Tremortine re. "5 minute freeze after modem connects" , Garguile has replied
that uninstalling IPV6 worked for him.
Well, miracle of miracles, it worked for me too. I just don't believe it.
Type ipv6 uninstall at the command prompt; then reboot, and voila
Thankyou for your courtesies, and beautiful assistance.
