how do i uninstall windows 2003? I want to install windows xp on this particular computer. Thanks

assuming you have a valid LEGAL version of XP (i.e. you purchased it, and it's CD key is not in use on any other computers) then all you would need to do is boot to the XP cd, format the current partition(s) and install XP

When I try to boot on the CD, the install XP is greyed out.

did you put the cd in the drive and then reboot the computer? or did you just put the cd in while you're logged in?

Won't work that way. You need to boot to the CD. That means, put the cd in the drive and reboot the machine (Power down and then power back up). Did you read through either of the links dsenette gave you? I know that http://www.michaelst...nxpinstall.html tells you how to do it.
