Hello,

My computer has been super-slow the last week or two, and has had issues shutting down and not restarting cleanly. I have Windows ME and use both IE and Mozilla as my web browsers. IE and Mozilla are both loading web pages at Dial-up speeds (I have a cable modem) and often hang and cause the computer to shutdown and force me to manually restart the computer. I tried Scan disk, disk defragmenter, disk cleanup, and found no differences, and run Ad-aware a few times a week and find spyware here and there, but no more than its found in the past. For some reason, I cannot get Panda active scan to work. I've tried several times over the past 3 days and my computer just hangs up before I can ever get to the actual scan. All of my Windows updates are current as well. I use EZ trust anti-virus as well, and have found no intrusions during my scans. I don't know if my hijack this log is useful since I can't run Panda activescan, but this is what I've got after running Ad-aware and had a clean restart. If anyone can help me out or lead me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

you need to get rid of realplayer and quick time ...they are resource hogs and they also report on you....

You do need a player that is capable of playing RealMedia. Supported: RealAudio (.ra .rpm), RealMedia (.rm .ram .rmvb .rpx .smi .smil), RealText (.rt), ReadPix (.rp), RealMedia embedded in webpages. .The RealMedia Browser plugin supports Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape and Mozilla.
use these alternatives... RealPlayer alternative and Quicktime alternative

Some advantages compared to RealPlayer :
- Quick and easy install
- Proper uninstallation
- No background processes
- Low on resources
- No advertising, no registration forms, nothing annoying....get it here

you will also need quicktime alternative...get it here..

You can also replace Adobe reader with Foxit reader...

Foxit Reader 2.0 is a free PDF document viewer and printer, with incredible small size (only 1.5 M download size), breezing-fast launch speed and amazingly rich feature set. Foxit Reader 2.0 supports Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003. Its core function is compatible with PDF Standard 1.6.

Version 2.0 introduces many exciting new features, including interactive form filler, multi-language UI support, on-demand download of add-on, self upgrade, Javascript support, improved printing speed, streamlined UI and much more.

In the past, you have to download a huge PDF Reader from other software company, go through a lengthy installation process and wait for an annoying splash window to disappear just to open a PDF document. Moreover, if you want to annotate a PDF document, you have to pay US$299 to buy certain PDF software.

Now with Foxit Reader 2.0, you don't have to endure such pain any more. The following is a list of compelling advantages of Foxit Reader 2.0:

* Incredibly small: The download size of Foxit Reader is only 1.5 M which is a fraction of Acrobat Reader 70 M size
* Breezing-fast: When you run Foxit Reader, it launches instantly without any delay. You are not forced to view an annoying splash window displaying company logo, author names, etc.
* Annotation tool: Have you ever wished to annotate (or comment on) a PDF document when you are reading it? Foxit Reader 2.0 allows you to draw graphics, highlight text, type text and make notes on a PDF document and then print out or save the annotated document.
* Text converter: You may convert the whole PDF document into a simple text file.
* High security and privacy: Foxit Reader highly respects the security and privacy of users and will never connect to Internet without users' permission. While other PDF Reader often silently connects to the Internet in the background. Foxit PDF Reader does not contain any spyware or adware.

You can also fill in PDF forms and then print them....get it here

Thank you for the posts. I was out of town, or I would have replied sooner. I removed bittorrent, quicktime, real player and adobe reader, and if anything, my web browsers are slower. There was no spyware detected on Spybot and Ad-aware again, so I posted another log below. Where can we look from here? It just took over 10 minutes for me to login to hotmail and get the link to this post, and I'm often getting "operation timed out" errors from my web browsers. Thank you for your help.
