Firewall/Router problem

When I start etomi pro, it won't connect fully. It says that there is either a firewall or router blocking it. I turned off the firewall and tried again. It said the same thing. I removed the software from my computer and downloaded again. It still says the same thing. I have high-speed internet. I have what I think is a router. I have something that plugs into the phone jack that has two plug-ins on the other side. I have the telephone in one and the line to the modem in the other. I don't know any computer lingo so I'm sorry if this is confusing. Any help would be great. Thank you.
